Recovering

Dear Trails,

I know it has been awhile and you think I have abandoned you.  The last time I saw you was late winter, and you were uncovered, as I trained at a feverish rate to get redemption at Mohican.  I was strong and confident, full of positive vibs, and performing at a higher level.  Now you are draped in green with wildlife dancing on your playground, with no sign of me in sight.  I’ve recovered from my injury, but the true test will be when I get some mileage on my feet.  Just taken it slow and easy for now!  I will be seeing you soon, but you will notice my foot steps 10 pounds heavier and going at a slower pace.  I will be so grateful to be running again, but my disposition will be a little on the gloom and doom side because of my lack of fitness.  So looking forward to getting back into shape!  I don’t sleep well, I don’t eat well, feel tired, unmotivated…  I can’t wait to get some quality time with you.  Be patient, and I promise, I will be back in shape and flying along your soft pine straw with happy thoughts, and dreaming about a PR as I get stronger.  Next weekend would have been the big race of the year for me.  Very bummed about that, but out of my control at the time.  Looking at some fall races which I can fit into my calendar (FATS, North Face,…).  Maybe a trip back to RR100 in Feb for a sub 24!  I need a race to train for and keep me motivated during this hot summer…Whenever it shows up.  So looking forward to getting back into shape!  Never give up.

See you soon,

You'll be fit sooner than you think. I know it might seem a long way off at the moment but I have faith in your powers of recovery.

I know EXACTLY how you feel and your body's crave to get back out there. Glad that your injury is better and you're ready to go. You will, it just takes some time, but you'll be back strong!

Wishing you the best. Injury is difficult to deal with, and getting back onto the trail is perhaps tougher. I hate how long it takes to get fit and how quickly it takes to get unfit. Doesn't seem fair. Sounds like you have a good goal to work toward (a tough one indeed!).

Glad you are running again! It won't be long to get back to where you left off...a little persistence, and a lot of patience.
I got to run for my first time in Forest park, Portland, OR. last weekend. I can understand NOW why trails like that are so special to people.
