Believe & Focus

“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure…than to rank with those poor sprits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat” - Theodore Roosevelt

I now have two State Champions in the house!  My daughter for Competitive Cheerleading and my son for Football.  My daughter’s Cheerleading team now heads to Orlando FL for the National Championship to defend their title from last year.  My son’s football team beat the last 6 years running state champs to knock them off their throne.  WOW – What a game, evenly matched, but our boys wanted it more, and did what most thought was not possible at the beginning of the season.  My son gave me a wrist band at the beginning of the season which had "Believe" and "Focus" on it.  This was the teams motto this season.  I have yet to remove it, and now it's my turn.  As you can tell, I’m just a little proud of my kids.

Family of 4

Josh and I
Took the family to see Cirque du Soleil “Totem” show last weekend – WOW!  Absolutely incredible breathtaking show!  I’m still in complete amazement over the performance.

Shoulder rehabilitation is going great.  Muscles are getting stronger, and got a steroid treatment in the rotator cuff to reduce the inflammation.  It has taken some patience, but it is all starting to come together.  My running is getting stronger each week, and set some lofty goals for next year.  I call it my year of redemption – Mohican and Arkansas will be the focus races.  Mohican will be a challenge to get prepared for this beast of a course.  Need to get my training miles ramped up in a smart manner without risk for injury.  Also have a few 50K+ sprinkled here and there to use as training runs.  Still having some issues with the foot, but working on a few things, and optimistic I will overcome this too. Believe and Focus.

Thoughts from a run a few weeks ago:  Ok, 5 mile turnaround mark. Not yet, go for a little longer - 6, 7, 8,… Feeling great, but I still need to make it back, and I have no water or gels!  Just a little further….12, 13, 14, 15 mile turnaround point.  A little muscle tightness, but wow, that felt so good.  I really miss that, can’t wait for the next run.  Time for the gym and get some time on the stairmaster.

Thoughts and prayers to CT.  As a father, my heart goes out to this small community.

Congrats on your children for becoming state champs, that is no easy task and alot of hard fought team work, as much school sports I have played, I can never say we were state champs

Good to hear the shoulder is getting better and the running is getting stronger
