Cooler Times in the South

The mile count was low this week, but had a great long run at FATS on Friday (30 miles of trails). My hamstring felt great all day, cool temps in the 80s, low humidity, and ran into a few dirt bikers for conversation. They were very supportive and asked all the typical questions about long distance running. FATS-40 will be this area first Ultra and people are interested in what kind of super human participates in them. I tell them just your average Tom next door!
The next day I did some hill repeats for an hour to really feel the tired legs. These hills are like taking a 3/4 mile section of soft sandy beach and making an incline to run up. It was a killer on the legs, but felt great. Low miles – But quality miles.
Animal count for the week was low also – Just a few thousand squirrels.
