Happy Thanksgiving

Training last week went well with another 70 miles in the books. My 10 mile tempo run was just as fast as the previous week, went out to Blanchard Park trails for another 15 mile mid-week run, and did some hill repeats. The long run was in very muddy conditions due to all the rain we received, and didn’t feel as fresh as the previous long run weeks (not surprised after this demanding 3 week cycle). I laughed a few times to myself because a few of the runners out on this muddy track were trying to gingerly work around the deeper muddy sections and I would just glide right threw the mess. I’m already covered in mud, why bother being careful!
This is my easy week to recover, no long runs on the schedule, and plan to eat lots of turkey and pumpkin pie. Unfortunately (for me, but good for you), I’m working dayshift Tues – Fri and will be keeping the electricity flowing so you can keep the light and heat on. Nonetheless, the company is providing us with a turkey lunch, and then I get to have another with the family when I get home in the evening.
The next three week cycle I want to get into 80 mpw, and start working on some specialize training now that I know what to expect at the RR course. I’ve already been doing some, but will start ramping things up.
To all my running friends out there in blog land – Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. Don’t worry about the extra Cal. If anybody can afford a few extra, it’s us.

I'm so glad that your training is going well. I am inspired by how many miles you can run in a single week and I love that you just push your way through the mud. That is a good philosophy for living life. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
